A Dream

I dream of a day not green

Or of material exuberance

But merely a day of acceptance—

Where no government

And certainly no man

May take away what birth

Has given on to each of us.

I dream of a day beyond

Man made division

And of lies meant to break

And bondage all those

Who subscribe to a different

Form of a humanity ever so tainted

By the web of societal control

And social hierarchy

Which permeates all but

The lives of those long gone.

But in my dreams

I see the fight for acceptance

Grow to encompass my entirety

Instead of marginalization making me. ◆
