a wave of nostalgia
parts of who i am keep washing away
disappearing
with the waves sent by the creatures in the deep blue sea
memories of them carved deep into my soul
memories of them playing in my head
a montage
a film reel
of heartbeats louder than thunder
and hugs warmer than sunshine
of soft familiar faces
of laughter
of phrases
laced into my name
but time cuts deep
so the water seeps in
full of salt
filling my wounds
with a sharp jolt
of pain and heartache
washing these parts away ◆
